OUR ATHLETES ABOUT US

These people below are not just our students, they are our family.

Vernon Adams Jr (Former Eastern Washington/ Oregon Ducks – Current BC Lions (CFL) QB)

I have enjoyed working with coach Nickel this off-season. He is a great quarterback coach. He keeps a heavy emphasis as a throwing mechanic/fundamental coach and has given me the tools that I will take into this upcoming CFL season. I like the way he engages with me and communicates the complicated knowledge easily. He works to help you be the best you can be. If he sees something wrong, he will clean it up and give you the knowledge/understanding needed to expedite your development as a quarterback. I appreciate him!

Nikhil Nayar(University of Idaho Vandals QB)

Coach Nickel is a great quarterback coach. He is always pushing me to be the best I can be and has taught me so much about the quarterback position during our trainings. When speaking of or teaching the specifics of the quarterback position or throwing mechanics, he offers a variety of different drills and explanations to help bridge the gap between what he knows and the skill level or understanding of the quarterback he is working with. Listening to coach Nickel, it is evident that he knows what it takes to succeed as he has had competitive opportunities with both CFL and NFL teams and wants to pass the knowledge on. He has changed the way I look at the quarterback position and has made me a more knowledgeable player in all facets of my game. His drive to make each quarterback he works with better is unrivaled in this area. Whenever I come back to the Seattle area, Coach Nickel is the first person I reach out to.

Kevin Russell(Former University of Redlands, Current Tri-Cities Fire Arena QB)

I have always sought the closest thing to perfection when it came to playing quarterback. From high school, to college, and various levels of professional football I have been exposed to a variety of training tips, coaches, and gurus. Through it all, I can honestly say that no coach has provided me with as much practical and useful training and information as Tyler Nickel has. Having had pro-level opportunities himself, his expertise of the quarterback position has allowed him to be a real trailblazer in the quarterback coaching world. His coaching techniques are easy to learn and extremely valuable. Going into my first arena football season he prepared me in a way that ensured I knew how to adapt my game to be as efficient as possible. There is no telling where my potential could have been if I had Tyler helping me to develop at a young age into not just an efficient thrower but also a better student of the game. Anyone willing to fully commit to becoming the best at the position should trust Tyler Nickel to get the most from the untapped potential that HE WILL BRING OUT in you. Thanks for everything!

Jaylen Antoine(Puget Sound University Logger QB)

The attention to detail that Coach Nickel has provided me in terms of my throwing mechanics and general knowledge of the game has helped me become an efficient and powerful thrower and a better student of the game. Before I worked with him, I had a variety of small mechanical flaws that limited my accuracy and velocity. After only my first workout, I immediately noticed the subtle adjustments that Coach Nickel made had a huge difference in the way I throw. Coach Nickel focuses heavily on the little things about the position that you do not learn at other quarterback or university camps. His main goal is to help you build confidence through repetition which has inevitably made me a better quarterback both physically and mentally. A parent of a young QB should highly consider working with Coach Nickel because it always pays off to learn proper throwing mechanics and grow your football acumen at a young age. I can say with confidence that Coach Nickel will make sure it happens. I have never worked with a guy as patient and at the same time demanding as coach Nickel is but I know every time I get done with a session I walk out a better quarterback than when I walked in. He is always on speed dial when I feel like I need to improve on something whether physically or mentally. Thank you coach!

Matt Mahler(University of Ottawa GeeGees QB)

Coach Nickel has been a huge part of my success on and off the field since our first training session three years ago. He does a great job of breaking down the complex nature of a quarterbacks throwing motion by simplifying body mechanics and fundamentals and packaging it in such a way that makes it extremely easy to understand and learn. Coach Nickel offers practical yet creative drills which promote proper fundamentals needed to succeed at a high level. Immediately following the first few workouts I noticed two major differences. One is that my awareness and understanding of my body/throwing mechanics drastically increased. This has given me the ability to self-correct and critique every throw even when Coach Nickel isn’t on the field. Secondly, after working with Coach Nickel, I began to notice that after a large amount of throwing my arm and body was no longer sore the way it had been in the past. Despite the fact I began throwing further and harder than I ever had before. His teachings allowed me to build up my endurance and utilize proper body mechanics to keep my arm fresh for a longer period of time. These two adaptations to my game have been instrumental in my development as a quarterback and are credited to his knowledge and ability to teach proper throwing mechanics and body movement. One of the greatest attributes I learned to appreciate was Coach Nickel’s ability to not only answer any question but also the “what” “why” and “how” of throwing mechanics, offensive concepts/schemes and defensive recognition, etc. I quickly learned that Tyler is willing to put in as much effort and work as you are willing to give back to him. Thus, making you want to be better and work harder because you know he will only help more. Even though Coach Nickel has moved away; through no obligation, he continues to be a valuable resource for film breakdown of not only my throwing mechanics but also my game film. This proves that he is willing to take the time necessary to help me improve, learn from my mistakes and make me the best quarterback I can be. The last thing I will say about Coach Nickel is that he is in this for the right reasons because of his love for the game. Not money, credit or self-promotion.

Derek Bodine(Father of Kayde Bodine, Auburn Mountain View High School QB)

My son has been coached by many different coaches. Some really good, some really bad. Without question, Tyler Nickel is far and away the best coach, mentor, and teacher Kayde has ever been around. Coach Nickel not only understands the position and the game at a very detailed level, but he is able to teach it in a way that the players can understand. He has analogies for almost everything and even gets down to the players biology and how that affects their throw. He can pinpoint exactly what went wrong with the throw and immediately give feedback on what needs to be adjusted. Simply put, Tyler is the smartest football mind I’ve ever been around and I wouldn’t want any other QB Coach teaching my son. Kayde has improved dramatically since he began training with Coach Nickel. His work ethic has increased dramatically and he’s focused more on doing things the right way now more than he has ever been before. Not only has Tyler been a critical piece in Kayde’s development as a QB, he is also a great role model for him and a positive influence on and off the field. I appreciate the guidance and knowledge Tyler has shared with me as well. Thank you Tyler for all you do for Kayde and his continuing development!

Rachel Woods (Seattle Majestics QB)

I have played QB on a women’s tackle football team for 8 years, and for most of those years, I never truly felt that I was playing to my full potential. I would work with our coaches but wasn’t seeing any improvements on the field. That’s when I started working with Tyler. After my first session with him, I was blown away! It was the first time I actually had someone breakdown proper throwing mechanics to me. I always understood how to throw a football at the macro level, but Tyler was able to break it down to the micro level which is exactly what I needed. His attention to detail and overall expertise for the quarterback position helped me increase my accuracy in just a few short months. Since the beginning of this season I have had several players, coaches, fans, and even opposing teams’ coaches comment on my improvement and how accurately I am now throwing the ball. None of that would have been possible without Tyler’s knowledge and skill.

Jake Laberge(Vancouver Island Raiders QB)(CJFL)

Coach Nickel has and continues to help me tremendously with my growth as a quarterback by not just focusing on my throwing mechanics but also how I can become a better leader and teammate. He is very good at identifying the weaknesses in my game and has worked hard to help me take my game to the next level. Each time we have worked together, he has had creative drills and done his best to suit them to my needs. Although I live in Canada, Coach Nickel has been nothing but supportive of me and my goals and aspirations. His communication skills are unmatched and will do anything to put me in a better position to succeed.

Tim Walker (Father of Jason Walker, Emerald Ridge High School QB)

My son has been working with Tyler since January of 2019. Tyler was recommended to us by another coach on our staff as his son is also working out with him. What a difference it has made. Tyler has taken the time to teach my son what it takes to be a complete quarterback. The transformation in Jason skill level since the beginning of the year has been incredible and a very positive experience for my son. Tyler has a way of breaking down each throw and relaying that back to his quarterbacks in way that is very positive and easy to understand. The most important part of his training is that Tyler makes it challenging but fun. My son never dreads going to a workout and looks forward to going to the next session. Thanks Tyler, we could not have made a better choice.

Tommy Doyle (Todd Beamer High School QB)

Coach Nickel is much different than the average quarterback coach. I know it sounds cliche, but he is great at applying his knowledge and expertise to help you elevate your game. He breaks down the quarterback position very thoroughly all while keeping his advice thorough and simple to learn. Overall, he prides himself in doing things the right way and going to any length to improve your game. Not only does he help you with throwing fundamentals/mechanics but also has a heavy emphasis on the mental and logistical process of playing the position as well. In less than 5 months I’ve grown from a barely good backup qb, to a starter with the potential to play division 2 or 3 on scholarship. He has not just been a quarterback coach to me. He has been a mentor and a teacher. I will take what he has taught me and the belief he has instilled in my abilities and put it to use this upcoming football season.
